The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is restocking its industry committee that tackles subjects such as crypto-asset trading and equity market internalization.

The commission is seeking volunteers to serve on the Market Structure Advisory Committee (MSAC).

Currently, regulators are studying a variety of issues about which the MSAC could provide input. The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) has published a pair of joint consultation papers with the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) this year — examining internalization in the Canadian equity market, and a proposed framework for regulating trading in crypto assets.

Additionally, the CSA is planning a pilot study on trading fee/rebate models in conjunction with U.S. regulators.

The MSAC is chaired by Susan Greenglass, director of the OSC’s market regulation branch, and is comprised of 12 to 15 members with expertise in market structure, capital markets and securities regulation. Committee members serve two-year terms.

Applications are due July 5.
