As the crypto sector increasingly goes mainstream in the U.S., the U.S. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Inc. (FINRA) is launching a crypto-focused educational program for brokerage firms and reps.
The U.S. industry self-regulatory organization announced the release of an advisor education program that is designed to provide industry firms with interactive, online courses on various crypto-related topics, including blockchain operations and transactions, cryptoassets and products, the crypto markets and ecosystem, and common crypto fraud schemes, among other subjects.
The SRO said that the program which will launch next month, will include both e-learning courses and a separate in-person course offered in partnership with Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
“Through the Crypto Hub, FINRA has focused on understanding how crypto and blockchains may impact our member firms … by providing educational resources to help them navigate this innovative technology,” said Greg Ruppert, FINRA’s executive vice-president, member supervision, in a release.
The initiative aims to “broaden industry knowledge and empower compliance professionals to combat crypto-related fraud,” the SRO noted.
