The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is warning investors about an unregistered online options trading platform based in Cyprus.

The Quebec securities regulator issued a warning on Tuesday about www.anyoption.com, which it says is not registered with the AMF and does not rely on any exemption which would allow it to solicit investors in Quebec.

The AMF reports that it has received at least one complaint from a Quebec investor who traded through this site, although it notes that it does not appear to be specifically targeting investors in Quebec.

The site has also been flagged by regulators in France, the AMF says, which has placed it on its list of sites not authorized to trade binary options.

The AMF stresses that offering investments is a regulated activity, and that trading firms must be registered. The regulator calls on investors to check registration, and to contact it if the believe they’ve fallen victim to an investment scam.
