Five asset management companies were honoured with group awards at the 2018 Lipper Fund Awards in Toronto on Wednesday night.

The awards recognize mutual funds and ETFs that have excelled in delivering consistently strong risk-adjusted performance relative to their peers. In addition, the program recognizes fund families with high average scores for all funds within a particular asset class or overall.

Phillips Hager & North (PH&N), a division within Toronto-based RBC Global Asset Management Inc. (RBCGAM), was named best bond mutual fund group and best overall mutual fund group. RBCGAM received eight awards for various individual mutual funds.

Capital International Asset Management (Canada) Inc. of Toronto was named best equity mutual fund group.

ATB Investment Management Inc. was named best mixed assets mutual fund group. The Edmonton-based manager received one individual fund award.

Toronto-based Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc. won the group award for bond ETFs and received three awards for its ETFs.

Vanguard Investments Canada Inc. of Toronto won the group award for equity ETFs.

The Lipper Awards are part of the Thomson Reuters Awards for Excellence, a global family of awards that celebrate exceptional performance throughout the professional investment community.
