A new organization has launched to represent Canadian investment dealers amid industry changes.

The Canadian Independent Finance and Innovation Counsel is “a dynamic consulting and advocacy firm dedicated to supporting investment dealers across Canada,” said CEO Annie Sinigagliese on LinkedIn.

“Our mission is clear: to empower investment dealers to thrive in an ever-evolving industry landscape.”

Sinigagliese was with the Investment Industry Association of Canada for more than six years, and was managing director of government relations until February 2022. More recently, she spent nearly two years with wealthtech Croesus as vice-president and product officer.

Her experience prior to that ranges from auditor with accounting firm Arthur Andersen & Co. to examiner of financial compliance with the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada to serving as chief financial officer with brokerage Pavilion Global Markets (formerly Brockhouse & Cooper International Inc.).

“I extend my sincere gratitude to the Canadian regulators and industry participants for their unwavering support as we embark on this exciting journey together,” Sinigagliese said on LinkedIn. “It is through collaboration and partnership that we will achieve our shared goal of fostering a robust and resilient investment industry in Canada. Together, let’s drive innovation, embrace change, and pave the way for a brighter future for investment dealers and investors in Canada.”

Also this month, the Federation of Independent Dealers (FID), formerly the Federation of Mutual Fund Dealers, launched under its new name. The FID aims to highlight “the collective needs of independent dealers” through the coordination of investment and mutual fund firms, a release said.
