Thematic ETFs continued to prove popular this year, with global assets rising by 49.6% in the first 11 months of 2025, a new report shows.
Assets in thematic ETFs listed globally totalled US$467.9 billion at the end of November, London-based consultancy ETFGI said in its latest monthly report tracking the industry.
That was down a touch from October’s record high of US$476 billion, but up substantially from the end of 2024, when global assets stood at US$312.8 billion.
Net inflows totalled US$8.2 billion in November, the 12th consecutive month of net inflows, the report said. In all, 15 new thematic ETFs were launched.
Technology and climate change themes led in both assets and inflows, with these categories together accounting for nearly half of thematic ETF assets, according to the report.
On the other end, resources management was the only theme to record negative inflows in November.
Year-to-date, thematic ETFs saw net inflows of US$69.6 billion, the second-highest on record. Only 2021 was a better year for growth, with net inflows of US$88.3 billion.
At the end of November, ETFGI counted 1,679 thematic ETFs with 3,163 listings from 286 providers globally. The first thematic ETF was listed in 2001.
