Montreal-based National Bank of Canada on Wednesday announced the winners of the Women in Financial Markets Internship Program for 2018.

Denis Girouard, executive vice president of financial markets at National Bank, awarded $5,000 to Chanel Matte, Eugenia Turculet and Jaskirat Sahi. The three students also received internship offers to start their careers in National Bank’s financial markets sector.

The winners of this year’s internships are enrolled in graduate or undergraduate studies at a Canadian university.

“This unique initiative in Canadian banking is designed to support women seeking careers in financial markets,” says Girouard, in a statement. “National Bank feels it’s essential to recognize and promote the presence of women in the organization, particularly in financial markets. The program is therefore an opportunity to recognize their talent, salute their ambition and boost their careers.”

Adds France Beauregard, senior manager of human resources of financial markets, in a statement: “This year’s winners are passionate about finance and share a keen interest for financial markets. What’s more, they’ve already displayed leadership in their past experiences. We want to fuel their interest in financial markets during their internship.”
