The awards program has recognized excellence in financial and corporate reporting in Canada for more than fifty years. They showcase best practices in financial reporting, electronic disclosure, corporate governance disclosure and sustainable development reporting. Twenty-one awards were presented this year from among a total of 80 participants.

“It is no small task to produce a corporate report that is relevant, clear and readily understood by users in today’s environment of complex rules and regulations,” says Kevin Dancey, president and CEO of the CICA.

“It is important that we draw attention to and acknowledge excellent examples of corporate reporting. We all recognize that sound corporate reporting will enhance the credibility of a company.”

Senior representatives were present at the luncheon today to receive their awards.

Other industry winners include Nexen Inc., presented with the TSX Award of Excellence in Electronic Disclosure and BMO Financial Group, which earned the Award of Excellence in Financial Reporting.

This year’s judging groups included the CICA, Toronto CFA Society, Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI), Deloitte, and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).
