The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has signed a cross-border co-operation agreement with its counterpart in the Netherlands.
The OSC has entered an agreement with the Autoriteit Financiële Markten (AFM) that governs the cross-border supervision of firms operating in Ontario and the Netherlands.
The memorandum of understanding (MOU), which requires the approval of Ontario’s minister of finance, provides a framework for co-operation and information-sharing between the OSC and the AFM.
The agreement aims to support the regulators’ goals of ensuring investor protection, maintaining market confidence and reducing systemic risk.
