Ontario regulators are warning consumers about two companies that are not registered to sell securities in Ontario, and an unlicensed mortgage broker.

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is cautioning investors about solicitations made by Stratus Financial Group International. The company is not registered to sell securities or commodity futures contracts in Ontario, the OSC says.

The OSC says Stratus and its representatives have solicited at least one Ontario resident by telephone to invest in natural gas futures.

Securities regulators in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick have issued similar warnings in respect of Stratus.

The OSC is also cautioning investors about solicitations made by an entity called Investor-Edge with a website located at http://www.investor-edge.com. The company is not registered to sell securities in Ontario, the OSC says.

The regulator says Investor-Edge and its representatives have solicited at least one Ontario resident by telephone and email to invest in an Over-The-Counter (OTC) medical marijuana stock.

The Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) is warning consumers that the entity 2 Mortgages is not licensed to conduct mortgage brokering business in Ontario.

FSCO says 2 Mortgages has placed posters in the Brampton area. The posters ask consumers to contact 2 Mortgages about “Home equity loans, bad good credit”.
