The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) announced on Thursday that husband and wife, Marc and Helene Brunet of Chesterville, Ont., have been charged with fraud and related securities offences following a lengthy investigation by the OSC’s Join Serious Offences Team.

The couple has been charged with one count each of trading in securities without registration and one count each of trading in securities without a prospectus. Marc Brunet has an additional charge of one count fraud.

The allegations relate to the sale of over $800,000 worth of securities in an Ottawa-based company called MultiCast Networks Holding Inc. to Ontario investors between Jan. 1, 2010 and Dec. 31, 2016.

The OSC also alleges that a significant percentage of the money obtained was used for personal benefit.

The allegations have not been proven. The Brunets are scheduled to appear in court in Ottawa on March 12.
