Women in Capital Markets honours three professionals at annual awards luncheon

Sandra Stuart, president and CEO of Vancouver-based HSBC Bank Canada, is the inaugural recipient of the Toronto-based Women’s Executive Network’s (WXN) Inclusion Vanguard Award.

The award is a new gender-neutral category included WXN’s annual Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards. Recipients are honoured for the measurable impact they have had on diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The award is presented in partnership with Toronto-based Deloitte LLP.

Stuart first joined HSBC Bank in 1982 and has held several senior roles since, including serving on the bank’s board and acting as chairwoman of the board for Global Asset Management (Canada) Inc. WXN has previously recognized Stuart as one of its Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100.

The new award is reflective of the network’s changing mandate to expand its events, programs and services from gender-specific initiatives to broader inclusion.

“The Inclusion Award is about recognizing a leader, woman or man, who has consistently put this believe into action within their organization and community, strengthening workplaces and changing lives,” says Sherri Stevens, owner and CEO of WXN, in a statement.

The award will be presented to Stuart at the Top 100 Awards Gala on Nov. 24 in Toronto. The full list of the 2016 Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards winners, which honour women in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, will be made public on Nov. 23, one day prior to the gala.
