The jobless rate held steady near record-low levels in September, according to new data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The unemployment rate for the OECD countries remained stable at 4.9% in September, only slightly above its record low of 4.8% in July, and below its pre-pandemic level.

The unemployment rate fell in Canada and the U.S. during the month, the group reported.

More recent data showed that the jobless rate was stable for Canada in October, though it ticked up in the U.S.

In Europe, the unemployment rate edged down by 0.1 percentage point in September to a record low of 6.6% for the region.
