Standard & Poor’s Canadian Index Operations yesterday announced changes to the S&P/TSX composite index as a result of the most recent quarterly review. Three companies will be added the TSX benchmark index, while four companies will be removed.
The changes will be effective after the close of business on Friday, December 17.
The companies to be added are:
- Centurion Energy International Inc., CUX;
- Gerdau Ameristeel Corp.,GNA; and
- ;Fairborne Energy Ltd., FEL.
The companies to be removed are:
- Southern Platinum Corp., SPC;
- Martinrea International Inc., MRE;
- Nevsun Resources Ltd., NSU; and
- CFM Corp., CFM.
Changes to the S&P/TSX Composite Index will also affect the S&P/TSX Capped Composite Index.
Company additions to and deletions from an S&P index do not in any way reflect an opinion on the investment merits of the company.
