Canadian manufacturing shipments climbed to a new record in July, Statistics Canada said today.
Led primarily by price increases in key industries such as oil, chemicals, wood and primary metals, Shipments rose by 0.5% from June to $50.2 billion.
“July marked the eighth consecutive increase in shipments, the longest string of gains since the late 1990s,” StatsCan said.
Although shipments have increased by 11.7% since December, the pace has slowed in recent months, the agency said. The 0.5% increase in July was the smallest gain since January.
