The Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada announced today that its Investor Complaints Service is now fully operational.
Clients of MFDA firms can now complain to the new self-regulator for fund dealers by calling 1-888-466-MFDA (6332) from anywhere in North America. Toronto-based clients can call 416-361-MFDA. Complaints may also be filed over the web site at www.mfda.ca under Enforcement or by sending a written complaint.
The Complaints Service will handle complaints regarding possible regulatory violations of MFDA rules or policies. If violations of MFDA rules or policies are discovered, the MFDA may conduct an investigation and undertake appropriate disciplinary action, which may include a public hearing.
“This is an important milestone in the development of the MFDA”, said its chief operating officer Larry Waite. ” Our Investor Complaints Service will play an important role in ensuring a well-regulated industry and enhancing investor protection and confidence in the integrity of the industry. Our goal at the MFDA will be to provide Enforcement which is firm, fair and transparent.”
