(July 24 – 12:35 ET) – Mackenzie Financial Corp. says Paul Baran, senior vice president, Mackenzie Investment Management Inc. is the new lead manager of the Industrial American Fund.
As of July 24, Baran replaces former manager, Veronica Onyskiw, who is leaving to pursue other ventures. Prior to joining Mackenzie in 1998, Baran was voted by Morningstar as one of only thirteen fund managers in the U.S. to add value while reducing portfolio volatility.
“Paul’s strong track record in managing funds and his in-depth understanding of U.S. investment opportunities will be critical assets to the management of the Industrial American Fund,” said Phil Cunningham, president, Mackenzie Financial Services Inc.
Baran will continue to manage the $247 million Universal U.S. Blue Chip Fund and act as co-manager of the $6.4 billion Universal Select Managers Fund. Baran has over 20 years of investment experience, most recently as chief investment officer at Central Fidelity National Bank in Virginia.
