(June 15 – 15:00 ET) – Investors Group Inc. today announced plans to expand its international investment management operation and add a new international equity fund.
An investment team including Tim Leung and Pauline Lee, supported by a group of analysts, have joined I.G. Investment Management (Hong Kong) Limited and will be based out of a new office in Hong Kong. Leung will focus his efforts on Investors Pacific International Fund, while Lee will concentrate on Investors Japanese Growth Fund. Jeremy Higgs, managing partner, I.G. International Management Limited, will oversee the management of the funds from his Dublin-based office.
“There are incredible investment opportunities that exist in the Asian marketplace. Through this Hong Kong office, we will have the in-house capacity to leverage untapped potential and monitor trends, such as growing Japanese participation in equity markets,” Scott Penman, president and managing partner, I.G. Investment Management Ltd., said in a press release. “For existing Investors Master Series funds and future product plans, it means deeper analysis of the growth opportunities in Asian markets.”
In Europe, Investors has launched the Investors European Mid-Cap Growth Fund, under the supervision of Martin Fahey, portfolio manager and partner with the Dublin office.
“Our international connections bring valuable information to our portfolio management teams. In turn, we are well positioned to offer broad expertise and unique products to the growing segment of Canadians seeking foreign investment opportunities,” said Penman.
