(July 19 – 16:45 ET) – Guardian Group of Funds Ltd. is proposing three mutual fund mergers. Guardian Canadian Income Fund will merge into Guardian Canadian Bond Fund. Guardian Growth & Income Fund will merge into Alexandria Canadian Balanced Fund. Alexandria Global Equity Fund will merge into Guardian Global Equity Fund.

The mergers are subject to approval by unitholders. Meetings of unitholders of the funds will be held on August 1. In addition, the merger of Guardian Canadian Income Fund and Guardian Canadian Bond Fund is also subject to the approval of securities regulatory authorities.

Subject to approvals, the mergers are expected to take place on or about August 11.
