(March 1 – 13:05 ET) C.I. Fund Management Inc. is making changes to the management of two global resource funds and three Canadian small and mid-cap funds. Steven Misener, CFA, Senior Vice-President, Portfolio Management of C.I. Mutual Funds Inc., has become lead manager of Harbour Explorer Fund, Harbour Mid-Cap Fund, and BPI Canadian Mid-Cap Fund.
In each case, Meisner replaces Stephen Jenkins, CFA, of C.I., who managed each fund’s portfolio since October 1997, June 1998 and August 1999, respectively. Jenkins, Senior Investment Officer of C.I., will continue to play a role on C.I.’s in-house portfolio management team, assisting Gerald Coleman in the management of Harbour Fund and Harbour Growth & Income Fund.
Misener, who has been managing the $328.9-million BPI Canadian Small Companies Fund since August 1994, is now lead manager of all four of C.I.’s Canadian small and mid-cap funds.
Robert Lyon, CFA, Vice-President, Portfolio Management of C.I., has become portfolio manager of C.I. Global Energy Fund and C.I. Global Resource Fund, replacing James Abate, CFA, of Credit Suisse Asset Management, LLC of New York. Abate had managed each fund’s portfolio since June 1998. Credit Suisse Asset Management continues to manage over $2.8 billion in assets for C.I.
The portfolio management changes, which are effective today, are part of C.I.’s ongoing review of its fund offerings following the acquisition of BPI Financial Corporation in August 1999.
