(January 10 – 17:30 ET) – AIC Ltd. announced today that it has accumulated an aggregate of 28,524,750 common shares, representing approximately 22.36% of the outstanding common shares of Mackenzie Financial Corp. AIC says the shares were purchased on behalf of the funds and accounts it manages.

The purchases were made over the Toronto Stock Exchange and the Montreal Exchange “in the ordinary course of business for investment purposes and not for the purpose of influencing the control or direction of Mackenzie Financial Corp.,” according to AIC.
