RBC Dexia Investor Services said Friday that it has appointed John W. Thompson to the post of chief financial officer, subject to regulatory approval. Based in Toronto and reporting to CEO José Placido, Thompson joins RBC Dexia on August 9.

Thompson comes to RBC Dexia from The CUMIS Group, a Canadian insurance company serving credit unions and their members, where he held the positions of CFO and chief administrative officer.

Prior to this, Thompson held senior roles with CIBC, where he led the financial management and transformation of a number of major business units in the United States and Asia Pacific regions. He was also responsible for the performance measurement and business operations of CIBC’s retail markets division.

Thompson will replace Kevin Powers, the present CFO, who remains with the company for a transitional period until November 30.

RBC Dexia Investor Services offers a complete range of investor services to institutions worldwide. Equally owned by RBC and Dexia, the company ranks among the world’s top 10 global custodians with US$2.4 trillion in client assets under administration.
