A Charlottetown lawyer, Ronald Keefe, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Bank of Canada. Keefe takes his position effective immediately.

“I am confident that Mr. Keefe will serve the Bank of Canada effectively,” John Manley, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, said in a news release. “He brings impeccable credentials and a wealth of experience to his new position.”

Keefe received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Prince Edward Island in 1979 and graduated from the Bachelor of Laws and Masters of Business Administration Program at Dalhousie University in Halifax in 1983.

Keefe is currently the managing partner in the Charlottetown office of Stewart McKelvey Stirling Scales. His major clients are involved in telecommunications, construction, real estate development, banking, and manufacturing and processing.

A member of the boards of several private companies, Keefe is the president of Communities 13 Inc., a non-profit organization serving the recreational needs of 13 communities, and a past president of the United Way of P.E.I. He is a member of the Law Society of P.E.I., the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
