Northern Securities Inc. today announced the latest expansion of its team with the hiring of six industry professionals for its private client and capital markets groups.

Vic Alboini, chairman and CEO of Northern, said: “these additions to our team are a further demonstration of our commitment to growth and excellence across all of our business lines”.

Kevin Duggan, David Smith, Jim Lucyk, Rick Shibley and Geoff Taylor join Northern’s private client group.

Duggan started in the securities business in 1993 with a boutique investment firm in Vancouver. He is joining Northern in its Vancouver office.

Smith has over 20 years experience in the securities industry as an investment advisor. Most recently, he was an investment advisor at a firm in Kelowna, B.C. Smith is based in Kelowna.

Jim Lucyk holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Alberta. He brings with him over 20 years of experience as an investment advisor and senior manager with several national securities firms. Lucyk is based in Calgary.

Taylor has over 16 years of securities industry experience including, retail sales, debt securitization and regulatory compliance. He was most recently with the private client group of a bank-owned investment dealer. He has his Chartered Financial Analyst designation and also holds his Chartered Investment Management designation and joins the private client group as portfolio management analyst. Taylor is based in Toronto.

Shibley has been employed as an equity trader since 1993. He has worked for various independent boutique firms and a bank-owned investment dealer. He is rejoining Northern in the Calgary office after spending the past 18 months at another boutique firm.

Peter Smiechowski is joining Northern’s capital markets group. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Toronto and has his Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Smiechowski has industry experience as both a trader and in institutional sales. He is joining the group at Northern’s Toronto office.
