Yves Lemay has been promoted to managing director of International Sub-Sovereign Ratings of Moody’s Investor Service. Previously he was senior vice president/team leader.

Lemay and his team maintain ratings on 280 regional and local governments in more than 35 countries. This includes all Canadian provinces and a number of Canadian cities.

Lemay joined Moody’s in the early 1990s as a sub-sovereign analyst, covering a portfolio of Canadian regional and local governments. He subsequently worked in the Sovereign Group, where he became the lead sovereign analyst for a portfolio of countries in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. To promote analytical consistency for non-US sub-sovereign entities world-wide, Lemay became the global coordinator for regional and local government ratings in 1999.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Lemay was the New York representative of the Canadian Ministry of Finance. He holds an MA in economics from McGill University and BA in mathematics from l’Universite de Montreal.
