The Canadian Securities Institute announced Wednesday that it has appointed Marc Flynn as vice president, regulatory affairs, effective immediately.

In a statement, CSI said it is strengthening its relationship with the securities commissions and self-regulatory organizations such as the Investment Dealers Association as well as with the member firms of the securities industry.

Flynn will be CSI’s primary liaison on regulatory issues. He will actively participate on industry committees and coordinate CSI’s response to the various sector reform initiatives being debated in Canada.

He will also lead CSI’s efforts in developing policy positions on proficiency standards for industry representatives in the constantly evolving financial sector.

Currently CSI’s managing director for Quebec and based in Montreal, Flynn was previously based in Washington, D.C. with Price Waterhouse Coopers where he worked in the international consulting division and led projects in capital markets, privatization and training.

Flynn is a graduate of the University of Montreal (BSc. Economics) and holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School at the University of Western Ontario.
