Vrooman joined Vancity in September after an impressive rise through the ranks of the government of British Columbia’s public service where she served most recently as the province’s deputy minister of Finance.

“Tamara does her homework. It’s apparent that she understands our business and has a keen sense and commitment to the values that govern everything we do at Citizens Bank. We look forward to working with her,” says Jason Farris, CEO, Citizens Bank.

“Citizens Bank is at an interesting crossroads,” Vrooman says. “Ten years ago, it started in Vancouver as one of the first branchless banks in the
country. Since then, it has increased its national reach to the point where more than 40% of its members now live east of the Rockies.”

Citizens Bank was formed by Vancity in 1997 as a branchless, national bank.
