Bank of America Merrill Lynch has hired Tim Johnston as head of equity capital markets for Canada.

Johnston joins Merrill from RBC Capital Markets, where he worked for the past 20 years in Toronto and New York in senior ECM and investment banking positions.

In his new role, Johnston will be responsible for the delivery of equity capital markets products to the firm’s corporate client base. He will work across industry groups and with ECM team members globally to drive BofA Merrill’s position in the new issue markets in Canada.

He will report to regional management in Toronto as well as to Frank Maturo and Peter Chapman, co-heads of Americas ECM, based in New York.

“We are very excited about the skill set, experience and relationships Tim will bring to our Canadian effort,” says Chapman. “His unique background meshes well with our global platform, and we think he will be a tremendous addition to the team.”
