Bank of Montreal has recently fired an employee over allegations that she embezzled almost $1.6 million over the past five years. The story is revealed in a suit filed by BMO in the B.C. Supreme Court against Worldbid Corp., an OTC Bulletin Board company based in Victoria, reports Stockwatch.com.

Some of the money embezzled by former bank employee, Paulette Thomson, was funneled through Worldbid. Thomson’s brother, formerly a private banker with BMO, now acts as treasurer and director of Worldbid.

Ms. Thomson is described as a “financial service manager” at a BMO branch in Kitsilano. It says BMO has won a court order freezing three of Ms. Thomson’s accounts at Wolverton Securities.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and there have not been any criminal charges filed.
