Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. today announced that Jonathan Golub has joined the firm as a senior managing director and chief investment strategist.

For six years before joining Bear Stearns, Golub was the U.S equity strategist at J.P. Morgan Asset Management where he also led its client portfolio management group. He was previously with Scudder Kemper Investments and Chancellor Capital Management where he worked with institutional clients. Golub has a Bachelor of Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Golub, who has 20 years of investment industry experience, introduced a 2008 year-end price target for the S&P 500 of 1,700. He is based in New York and reports to Kay Booth, director of global equity research.

“Jonathan takes a direct, in-depth approach to investment strategy that spans U.S. equities and the markets globally,” said Booth, in a release. “He’s a wonderful addition to our equity research team and he’s certain to be an asset to our clients.”
