Objective Financial Partners Inc., an Ontario-based fee-only financial planning firm, is expanding into Quebec under the name Partenaires financiers objectifs. Two experienced financial planners, Guillaume Dumais and Roger Massicotte, will lead the firm’s development in the province.
“With this expansion, we are continuing to build one of Canada’s largest advice-focused financial planning firms,” the firm’s founder and financial planner Jason Heath said on social media.
Founded in 2012 and based in Markham, Ont., the firm operates under a model that remains rare in Canada: it sells no investment or insurance products, earns no commissions and charges clients directly based on agreed-upon fees.
The firm estimates there are about 150 financial planners in Canada working under a fee-only structure — roughly one-sixth of 1% of all advisors.
Among them, only a minority provide advice only and hold the planificateur financier (Pl. Fin.) designation in Quebec, the firm says on its website.
The Quebec team consists of financial planners Guillaume Dumais and Roger Massicotte, with an office in downtown Montreal.
Dumais specializes in estate planning and trusts for individuals and business owners. He joined Objective Financial Partners in December, and holds a master’s degree in taxation and the trust and estate practitioner (TEP) designation. He is also a member of the Ordre des administrateurs agréés du Québec and an ambassador for the Institut de planification financière.
Massicotte holds the family enterprise advisor (FEA) designation and has 30 years of experience advising individuals and families on financial matters. He spent more than two decades working with financial institutions before founding the advisory firm Ma Vie — Mes Finances in 2015.
