Statistics Canada said prices for manufactured goods at the factory gate were up in August, following three months of declines.
Meanwhile, raw materials prices were up again in August as crude oil prices increased for a third straight month.
Prices for raw materials rose by 4.4% in August after a 1.2% increase in July and were up 14.6% from August of last year.
Prices for manufactured goods at the plant gate were up 0.3% from July, but down by 0.4% from a year earlier.
StatsCan said higher prices for petroleum products, meat, fish and dairy products, primary metal products and chemical products were the major contributors to the monthly increase.
Prices that manufacturers paid for intermediate goods, those generally bought to make other products, rose 0.4% from July but were down by the same percentage from a year earlier.
Prices for finished goods were up 0.3% in August from July, but down by 0.4%% from a year earlier.
