Members of The Institute for Advanced Financial Education (The Institute) have elected Jim Virtue as chair of the board of trustees for 2013.

Virtue, who replaces Caron Czorny, Toronto-based vice-president, business development, BMO Life Assurance Co., is president of PPI Solutions Inc., a national managing holding company that controls and operates eight managing general agencies (MGA). A resident of Calgary, Virtue first became an independent life insurance broker in 1995 after holding various positions with trust and life insurance companies.

Virtue was elected chair at an annual general meeting held on November 19. Other board members elected at that time include:

  • Al Jones – president, A. Jones Wealth & Estate Planning Inc., Barrie, Ont.;
  • Jennifer Tweddle – regional vice president, individual insurance, Manulife Financial;
  • Stephen MacEachern – certified financial planner and owner, Stephen MacEachern Insurance & Financial Services, Halifax;
  • Caron Czorny – vice-president, business development, BMO Life Assurance Co., Toronto;
  • John W. Hamilton – president, RBC Wealth Management Financial Services Inc., Toronto;
  • Allain Labelle – certified financial planner, Manulife Securities Inc., Sudbury, Ont.;
  • Eric Lidemark – principal, Lidemark Financial Group Inc., Vancouver; and
  • Jacqueline Siah – associate financial advisor, Rogers Group Financial, Vancouver.
