Following the second review of the FTSE4Good global index, the innovative Socially Responsible Investing index series created by index group FTSE, an additional six Canadian companies have met the corporate social responsibility entry criteria and will be added to the global index.

The companies joining the index are Aliant, Celestica, CGI Group, Dupont Canada, Nova Chemicals and Zarlink Semiconductor.

More than 250 companies worldwide submitted updated information and asked to be considered for inclusion in the indexes. “The interest from companies to be included in the FTSE4Good series is proof that businesses are committed to the principles of corporate social responsibility,” said Jane Staunton, president, FTSE Americas. “As the FTSE4Good index series begins its second year, it continues to act as a catalyst to promote best practice and raise awareness of socially responsible investment.”

An additional 11 U.S. companies have meet the entry criteria and will be added to the index as well. They include: BMC Software, Citigroup, Citizens Communications Company, Georgia-Pacific Group, John Hancock Financial Services, Kimberly-Clark, Lucent Technologies, Pfizer, Progressive Corporation Ohio, Stillwell Financial and Weyerhaeuser.
