Raymond James Ltd., the Canadian arm of North American investment dealer Raymond James Financial Inc., has appointed Jimmy Leung to lead its new sustainability investment banking team.

Leung, who previously oversaw the firm’s Canadian technology investment banking unit and has been with the firm since 2005, will serve as managing director and head of sustainability investment banking, effective immediately.

The firm’s overall investment banking team consists of more than 350 investment professionals who provide capital markets services across Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

The main impetus for carving out a sustainable-focused offering is that “more and more corporations and investors are integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations into their strategies,” said Paul Allison, chairman and CEO with Raymond James Ltd., in a release.

Allison added that Leung has “extensive background in capital markets and mergers and acquisitions,” and experience working with clean technology companies.
