Canadian Tire Corp., Ltd. was honoured earlier today as a leader in corporate reporting by the Chartered Accountants of Canada and the National Post in the prestigious Corporate Reporting Awards program.

Canadian Tire won the Overall Award of Excellence for the best annual report in Canada in 2001 across all industries. Canadian Tire also won Gold in the Canadian merchandising sector.

Now in its 51st year, the awards recognize the best reporting models in Canada based on their ability to clearly communicate financial information according to a set of detailed criteria. Reports are scored on various elements, including the CEO’s letter to shareholders, performance scorecard, financial statement information and management’s discussion and analysis, among others.
