The alternative investments industry is calling for entries for the 2011 AIMA Canada Research Award. The award carries a $10,000 cash prize, and the deadline for submissions is December 31.

The association is a national group of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), and acts as the voice of the alternative investment industry in Canada

The award, now in its seventh year, recognizes outstanding Canadian research pertaining to any aspect of alternative investments. It is open to academics, students and practitioners who are either residents of Canada or Canadian citizens living abroad. Topics may include, but are not limited to, investment strategy, regulation, trading, risk management, risk measurement and manager selection.

The winning entry will be eligible for publication in summary form in Canadian Investment Review.

Eligible research must have been conducted either by Canadians or non-Canadians who were living in Canada when the research for their paper was conducted. Papers must include both the full version of the research no longer than 10,000 words and a summary version no longer than 2,500 words. Additionally, to be eligible, the final draft of the paper must have been completed within the current calendar year. Where a paper has multiple authors, each author must meet the eligibility requirements outlined above.

The Adjudication Panel will consist of academic members from business schools across Canada and from selected members of the AIMA Canada Education and Research Committee. The panel will be managed by Paul Bates, Special Advisor to the President of McMaster University.

Papers must be submitted to AIMA Canada, no later than December 31.

The winner will be announced early in 2012.
