Bank of Montreal’s discount brokerage division is offering its hybrid adviceDirect service, and its traditional discount brokerage service, in Chinese.

BMO InvestorLine announced that it has launched traditional Chinese versions of its online discount brokerage offerings, meaning that clients can manage their accounts and execute trades in Chinese — for both the basic discount brokerage service, and the adviceDirect service that it launched in 2012, which provides advice and investment recommendations, too. It’s also planning to introduce simplified Chinese versions of these sites in the near future.

The firm says that the number of Chinese-speaking Canadians is set to double by 2031, and so it is moving to ensure it can serve that population. “With the Chinese-Canadian community continuing to grow, BMO InvestorLine recognizes the need to evolve our services to connect with and cater to an increasingly diverse client base,” said Viki Lazaris, CEO, BMO InvestorLine.

“The ability to communicate with clients in multiple languages provides a unique and customized user experience that helps enhance our online investing services and strengthen our capacity to meet clients’ needs,” she added.
