The Fintech AMF – Finance Montreal Research Chair is seeking projects that explore the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the fintech sector, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) has announced.

A series of eight research grants is being offered to academics and graduate students for projects examining the effects of the pandemic, including issues such as how the fintech ecosystem is affected, and how fintechs might cope with a second wave of the virus.

The research unit — which was created by the AMF, Finance Montreal and the School of Management Sciences (ESG UQAM) — will provide two scholarships of $ 5,000 for graduate students and six $10,000 grants for researchers and professors.

The grants are available for both research projects and “knowledge transfer” projects, such as analytic tools, webinars and mobile apps.

The deadline for grant applications is June 18. Projects will run for up to six months.

Research papers that are financed by the grants would become working papers of the research chair, and knowledge transfer projects could be made available publicly online.
