A hearing panel of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada has permanently banned a Vancouver broker for failing to attend and give information to an investigation being conducted by IIROC’s Enforcement Department into his conduct.

IIROC formally initiated the investigation into the conduct of Trevor Scott Morrison on Dec. 20, 2007. The violations occurred when the Morrison was a registered representative with the 900-700 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, branch of Union Securities Ltd. Morrison is no longer registered in any capacity with an IIROC dealer member.

Following a disciplinary hearing held on Dec. 22, 2008, in Vancouver, the hearing panel fined Morrison $50,000, and permanently banned him from registration in any capacity. As well, the panel ordered him to pay costs in the amount of $11,000.

The hearing panel issued its decision and reasons on Jan. 16, 2009.
