The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) has appointed two new members. Matthew Bootle and Gail Harding will each serve three-year terms, beginning April 1, 2019, the ASC said today in a release.

Bootle has over 30 years’ experience as a financial professional, including as a former partner with Ernst & Young LLP and a former director at TSX Venture Exchange. He served as the ASC’s chief accountant from 1993 to 1997.

Harding has held many positions at Canadian Western Bank Financial Group over the past 14 years, including senior vice-president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary. Previously, she was an equity partner at Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, and legal counsel and exchange secretary at the Alberta Stock Exchange. She also has several years’ board experience.

Commission members act as the ASC’s board of directors, overseeing commission management and considering and approving changes to Alberta securities laws.

In adding to these appointments, Maryse Saint-Laurent has been re-appointed as a member for a second three-year term, and Kathryn Chisholm has been appointed lead independent member for a one-year term.
