An investigation by the Ontario Securities Commission’s (OSC) Joint Serious Offences Team (JSOT) has produced yet another quasi-criminal charge.
The OSC announced today that David Borg, of Toronto, was charged with one count of trading without registration, following an investigation by the OSC’s JSOT. The allegations have not been proven. The first court appearance for Borg will in the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto, on Jan. 14, 2014.
The regulator says that the charge in this case relates to Borg’s alleged role in selling shares of Enriching Pictures Inc. to investors. It alleges that approximately $700,000 was received from investors.
This charge is the latest stemming from an investigation by the OSC’s new JSOT, which was established in May by the OSC and the RCMP. “Our Joint Serious Offences Team has been very active since it was established and is focused on protecting investors from individuals who are not registered,” said Tom Atkinson, director of enforcement at the OSC.
