The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is seeking four new members for a key policy advisory group, the Securities Advisory Committee (SAC) — and is particularly looking for candidates with structured products and derivatives experience.

The committee, which typically meets on a monthly basis, provides advice to the commission and its staff on a variety of matters including policy initiatives and capital market trends. It also provides advice and comments on legal, regulatory and market implications of any aspect of OSC rules, policies, operations, and administration.

One third of the 12 member committee is turned over every year, and so, the commission is now looking for four candidates to serve on the SAC for a three-year term, beginning in January 2013. Applications are due by Nov. 12.

Prospective committee members are expected to have excellent technical abilities, a strong interest in regulatory policy, and significant practice experience in the securities area. In particular, the OSC indicates that it is seeking at least one new member with extensive experience with novel and structured products and/or derivatives and derivatives regulatory reform.
