The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has named four new members to its key policymaking committee, the Securities Advisory Committee (SAC).

The new faces, who will serve on the committee for the next three years, are: Blair Cowper-Smith from OMERS Administration Corp.; Sheldon Freeman of Goodmans LLP; Mindy Gilbert with Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP; and Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP’s Kathleen Ritchie.

The members of the SAC have staggered terms. With the addition of four new members to the committee, four other members of the SAC completed their terms in December 2014. In the fall of 2015, the OSC will seek the next group of new SAC members for terms starting in January 2016.

The SAC provides advice to the commission, and its staff, on a variety of legislative and policy initiatives, and important capital markets trends. It can also bring issues to the regulator’s attention.
