The former head of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), Maureen Jensen, is joining the board of Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Inc. (FINRA).

The U.S. self-regulatory organization announced that Jensen, who stepped down as chair and CEO of the OSC in April, has been appointed as a public governor.

Prior to joining the OSC, Jensen worked at the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC). She also worked at its predecessor, Market Regulation Services Inc. (RS), before IIROC was formed. She was senior vice-president, surveillance and compliance at IIROC, and president and CEO of RS.

“Maureen brings to the board extensive international leadership experience and expertise in securities market regulation, and we are very much looking forward to working with her,” said FINRA CEO, Robert Cook.

The SRO also named Eileen Murray, former co-CEO of Bridgewater Associates LP, as chair of its board. Murray also previously worked at Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, and was president of Duff Capital Advisors.

“Eileen Murray’s extensive senior leadership, operational, technology and regulatory experience make her an ideal choice to chair our organization and help us continue to achieve our vital mission,” said Cook.

FINRA named Eric Noll, CEO of U.S. investment firm, Context Capital Partners, as a new public governor as well.

The appointments are all effective at FINRA’s upcoming annual meeting in August.
