Maritime Life has appointed Josephine Marks to the position of senior vice president, Pensions and Group Investment Customers.

“This new position brings greater focus to important areas of our business,” says Bill Black, president and CEO, Maritime Life. “Further developing products and business lines supports Maritime Life’s multi-faceted approach to growth which also includes acquisitions and strategic partnerships.”

“I’m very pleased to be joining the Maritime Life team,” says Marks. “I admire the existing focus on customer service and look forward to opportunities to expand the existing business into new areas.”

Marks brings to the company 20 years of experience in the pension and investment business in Canada, gained through positions with a major Canadian life insurance company and a benefits consulting firm. Most recently, Marks was vice president of Investments for Sun Life of Canada.

“We’re fortunate to have an individual with such a unique combination of skills join our team,” says Black. “Josephine brings a solid understanding of the Pensions marketplace and asset-liability management, and her experience in portfolio management, investment strategy, client service, marketing and finance, will be very useful in this new position.”

On October 1, Maritime Life completed its purchase of Royal & Sun Alliance Life Insurance Co. of Canada (Royal & SunAlliance Financial), a move that company says significantly strengthens its life insurance and investment products lines of business.
