Both Chicago-based BMO Harris Bank NA and Toronto-based Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD) recently upgraded their consumer technology. BMO Harris, which is a unit of Toronto-based Bank of Montreal, is planning a Canadian pilot project enabling customers to use their smartphones to withdraw money from ATMs. The program has launched in the U.S., where clients can use the app at 750 ATMs. TD, meanwhile, has redesigned its mobile app for Android and iPhone devices. With the upgrade, TD clients can pay their U.S. bills by using the app – a Canadian first, according to TD.
