Vancouver-based Canaccord Genuity Corp. announced that Michael Shuh is joining the firm as managing director of investment banking and head of financial institutions in Canada.

Shuh brings two decades of investment banking experience to his new position. He was most recently managing director and head of financial institutions with Toronto-based CIBC World Markets Inc. and also spent 10 years in Montreal-based National Bank of Canada’s investment banking division.

In addition, Shuh served as an inaugural member of the Ontario Securities Commission’s investment fund product advisory committee from 2013 to 2015.

“Based in our Toronto office, Michael will report to me and will work closely with investment banking and advisory teams in all regions to further strengthen our capabilities and provide independent and differentiated advice to asset managers, alternative lenders, investment funds and [special purpose acquisition companies],” states Pat Burke, president of Canaccord Genuity’s capital markets arm, in a note to the firm’s employees.
