Vancouver-based Canaccord Genuity Group Inc. (TSX:CF) has appointed Richard Champion as deputy chief investment officer for its wealth-management business in the U.K.

Champion will play a key role in managing assets in the firm’s onshore discretionary client portfolios while leveraging the broader resources of the Canaccord Genuity platform, including its proprietary stock screening tool, Quest, the firm’s announcement states.

“Richard brings valuable insight and expertise to our existing stock selection and asset-allocation capabilities,” says David Esfandi, CEO of Canaccord Genuity Wealth Ltd. in the U.K. “With a proven track record of strong portfolio performance, Richard is the ideal candidate to help enhance the implementation of Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management’s investment decisions across our client portfolios.”

Champion will be based in London and work closely with Nigel Cuming, chief investment officer of Canaccord’s U.K. wealth-management business. Prior to joining Canaccord, Champion was chief investment officer with Sanlam Private Investments (U.K.) Ltd.
