A new mutual fund from Toronto-based RBC Global Asset Management Inc. seeks to take advantage of market trends. RBC Trend Canadian Equity Fund follows the investment thesis that recent trends in securities prices tend to continue for a period of time. The fund uses a tactical approach in asset allocation and has the flexibility to hold cash and short-term bonds during market downturns. The fund is appropriate for long-term investors looking to diversify their portfolios and who have a “medium” risk tolerance level. Advisor commissions are 0%-5% for front-end sales or 1% for the low-load option. Redemption fees begin at 2% in Year 1 and end at zero after Year 2 for the low-load schedule. Trailing commissions are 1% for front-end sales and 1% for low-load sales. Management fees are 1.6% for A-class units and 0.6% for F-class units. Minimum investment is $500.
